Whistleblower Portal of the University of Vienna
This page is open to all (active and former) employees of the University of Vienna as well as third parties who have a contractual relationship with the University of Vienna. You can use this system to report legal violations. Your tip is intended to help uncover grievances, avert damage and develop measures to prevent violations. The legal basis for this is the Federal Act on the Procedure and Protection in the Event of Reports of Violations of the Law in Certain Areas of Law (Whistleblower Protection Act), Federal Law Gazette I 2023/6, which you can access at the following link: https://www.ris.bka.gv.at/GeltendeFassung.wxe?Abfrage=Bundesnormen&Gesetzesnummer=20012184.

It is possible to submit reports concerning

- public procurement
- Money laundering and terrorist financing
- Product safety and conformity
- environmental protection
- Radiation and nuclear safety
- Food and feed safety, animal health and welfare
- public health
- consumer protection
- Protection of privacy and personal data as well as security of network and information systems 
- Corruption, bribery, abuse of office (Sections 302 to 309 StGB)
- Antitrust and competition law

When reporting, you can decide for yourself whether you wish to submit your information anonymously or by name. In any case, we assure you confidential treatment.

Your report is an important contribution to responsible, legally compliant behavior of all university employees and a positive corporate culture at the University of Vienna. 

Please note that this portal may not be used to make deliberately false or defamatory reports. The following offences are not covered: Discrimination, labor law, plagiarism allegations, and tax law.

What you can do to protect yourself

  • You are not on the corporate network (Internet/VPN).
  • You should not use a device (smartphone, computer, etc) that is provided by your employer.
  • You should not use the kinds of idioms or abbreviations that you frequently use in conversations or when writing emails.
